Sparwood Age-Friendly Community Plan

The District of Sparwood, BC, wanted to examine how ‘age-friendly’ the community is today and what future generations will need as they move through different phases of their lives. MODUS worked with an advisory committee of local stakeholders and service providers to design and deliver an engagement process that included a survey, a series of public workshops, focused conversations with seniors, and citizen-led 'Kitchen Table Conversations.'

Best practices research on age-friendly communities was also conducted to assess Sparwood based on the World Health Organization’s eight key elements of an age-friendly community. This helped develop a set of recommended strategies and actions to improve the community’s livability and accessibility for people of all ages and abilities.
