From charrette to concept - designing the next chapter of Valleyview South. THE CHALLENGE The Valleyview South Master Plan was initiated to guide the future development of a centrally located area between the Valleyview and Hillcrest neighbourhoods—an area long envisioned by the City for residential growth. The Plan aims to accommodate population increases, ensure compatibility with existing neighbourhoods, integrate infrastructure, protect environmental features, and provide clear direction on land use, mobility, parks, and servicing. THE RESPONSE A multi-day design charrette formed the foundation of the plan’s major deliverables and provided an opportunity to test ideas in real time with City staff and key stakeholders. Through an intensive and collaborative process, the charrette resulted in the development of a draft land use concept, grading and phasing strategies, infrastructure servicing considerations, and open space and mobility network planning.
