Building Capacity for Community-Led Planning in the Filipino Non-Profit Sector.
THE CHALLENGE
Mabuhay House Society is a non-profit organization working to develop a National Filipino Cultural Centre as an inclusive, intercultural, and intergenerational space for Filipino-Canadians. The society is currently in the early planning stages, working towards a feasibility study for the centre.
To support this vision, Mabuhay House is developing a Hub and Spoke Program to build the capacity of leaders in the Filipino Non-Profit Sector. The program provides training in strategic planning, engagement, and facilitation to empower facilitators to lead planning within their own organizations. The goal of the Hub and Spoke capacity building workshops is to support Filipino organizations to explore strategic planning that will set the roots for later stages of development planning within the community.
THE RESPONSE
MODUS led community capacity building workshops with Filipino Non-Profit groups. This series of workshops was the first of the Society’s Hub & Spoke Programs, providing a space for Filipino community members to come together, share their experiences and gain tools to develop their own strategic plans.
