Surrey Langley SkyTrain Engagement

Engaging the Region on the Future of Rapid Transit South of the Fraser.

THE CHALLENGE

In December 2018, the Mayors’ Council directed TransLink to begin planning and project development for a SkyTrain along Fraser Highway, which would connect Surrey and Langley to the regional SkyTrain network.

They also directed TransLink to initiate a planning process to refresh the South of Fraser Rapid Transit Strategy; a complementary strategy which would plan for expanded transit in growing areas of Surrey and Langley.

THE RESPONSE

MODUS helped TransLink engage with residents and stakeholder groups in Surrey and Langley, along with people from across Metro Vancouver, about both of these important regional projects.

Over 30,000 people were engaged through a variety of telephone, online, and in-person engagement opportunities. The results of each phase of engagement, along with other technical work, contributed directly to decisions made by TransLink, their project partners, and the Mayors’ Council.
